Dos Bocas, human settlement in Mexico
Dos Bocas is a port settlement located in Tabasco state near the town of Paraíso on the Gulf of Mexico coast. The facility was constructed in the early 1980s by Pemex to handle oil export operations through dedicated loading docks and storage infrastructure.
The area was named by Spanish explorers in 1518 after a natural coastal passage they discovered. The modern port developed in response to Mexico's growing oil production and enabled efficient shipment of crude oil worldwide.
The port lies a few kilometers from the town of Paraíso and is accessible by road. Visitors should be aware that this is a functioning industrial area where safety regulations apply and access to certain zones may be restricted.
The area was already known to Europeans in 1518, making it one of the oldest named places in the region. This long history of exchange with the outside world shapes its role today as a hub for trade and movement of goods.
