Sistema Sac Actun, Natural underground pool near Tulum, Mexico

The limestone cavern features crystal-clear turquoise waters reaching depths of 200 feet with numerous small fish and natural rock formations.

The formation of this cenote occurred over millions of years through the dissolution of limestone bedrock, creating an intricate system of underwater caves.

The ancient Maya civilization considered this cenote a sacred portal to Xibalba, using it for ceremonial rituals and as a water source.

Entry costs 500 Mexican pesos per person, with facilities including rental equipment, changing rooms, and wooden platforms for easy water access.

The cave system contains multiple connected chambers where visitors can observe both stalactites and small bats residing in the ceiling crevices.
