Whitehead Memorial Museum

The Whitehead Memorial Museum is a history museum in Del Rio that spans several acres and contains nine buildings with exhibits focused on the 1800s. The complex features recreated settler cabins, period kitchens, and a range of nineteenth-century objects that document life in the region during its early settlement.

The museum was established in 1962 after a local ranching family donated land to preserve regional history. The site also serves as a burial ground for notable figures connected to the area's past.

The museum tells the story of how early settlers built communities in Southwest Texas through recreated village spaces and period household items on display. These exhibits show visitors what daily life looked like for the pioneers who first developed this region.
