Titan, Steel hypercoaster in Arlington, US
Titan is a steel hypercoaster at Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington, spanning over 5,280 feet of track. The layout includes two spirals and a helix section, with top speed achieved during the first descent just seconds after departure.
This coaster opened in 2001 as the tallest ride in Texas at the time. Its design was based on a similar model by the same manufacturer, installed in Japan one year earlier.
The name draws from Greek mythology, referencing a race known for immense power and size. Its open-air trains with over-the-shoulder restraints create the feeling of being exposed directly to gravity and speed.
Riders need to be at least 48 inches (122 cm) tall, and the coaster usually runs with three trains to reduce wait times. The boarding platform sits at ground level, so access does not require stairs before the train ascends.
During the ride, the train passes through a tunnel shortly after the first drop, where the temperature suddenly shifts cooler than outside. This change adds an extra layer of sensation, drawing attention to the physical effects of speed and twisting forces.
