Arlington Stadium, Baseball stadium in Arlington, United States
Arlington Stadium was a baseball stadium located in Arlington with a total capacity of 43,521 seats. It featured a functional design with tiered seating sections that gave spectators clear views of the field.
The stadium opened in 1965 as Turnpike Stadium before becoming the first Major League home for the Texas Rangers in 1972. It remained the team's ballpark until 1993, ending over two decades of use for professional baseball.
The stadium introduced nachos to Major League Baseball concession stands in 1974, a change that spread to other ballparks and helped shape stadium food culture across the country.
The stadium sat between Dallas and Fort Worth along Interstate 30, making it convenient to reach from either city. Summer evening games worked well for visitors since daytime heat often climbed above 100 degrees Fahrenheit (37 degrees Celsius).
During the seventh-inning stretch, the stadium played Cotton-Eyed Joe instead of the traditional Take Me Out to the Ballgame. This quirk gave the venue a distinctive Texas flavor that set it apart from other ballparks.
