Six Flags Over Texas, Amusement park in Arlington, United States
Six Flags Over Texas is an amusement park in Arlington, Texas, covering roughly 86 hectares and offering more than 40 rides and attractions. The grounds are divided into six themed sections, including 13 roller coasters as well as entertainment stages and venues for families.
The park opened in 1961 as the first location in the Six Flags chain after developer Angus Wynne Jr. made a trip to Disneyland. He invested roughly 10 million dollars at the time to create a regional leisure destination in North Texas.
The six themed sections carry names of the flags that flew over Texas: Spain, France, Mexico, the Republic of Texas, the United States, and the Confederate States. Each section reflects its era through architecture and design, so visitors walking through experience different historical atmospheres.
The grounds are open year-round and host seasonal events, with online ticket sales and parking available on site. Visitors with limited mobility will find accessible entrances and service options throughout the park.
El Diablo holds the title of the largest loop roller coaster in the world with a diameter of roughly 38 meters (125 feet). Titan, on the other hand, remains the tallest and fastest roller coaster in Texas, reaching nearly 100 meters (328 feet) in height.
