Muskrat Scrambler, Steel roller coaster in New Orleans, Louisiana
The Muskrat Scrambler was a steel Wild Mouse roller coaster located in a theme park in New Orleans, Louisiana. The ride used eight individual cars, each built to carry four riders seated in two rows of two.
L&T Systems built the coaster, which opened in May 2000 as part of the park's first section, known as Jazzland. It ran for five years until 2005, when serious environmental damage led to the permanent closure of the whole park.
The ride's name references muskrats, animals common in Louisiana's wetlands, reflecting how the park drew inspiration from local wildlife. This approach shaped how visitors experienced the themed area and connected the attraction to the surrounding environment.
This ride no longer operates, as the park site has been permanently closed since 2005. Anyone curious about its history can find records through amusement park archives and enthusiast communities online.
The ride took its name from the muskrat, an animal native to Louisiana's wetlands, which was a deliberate nod to the region's natural world. Jazzland used local wildlife names specifically for its Wild Mouse models, making this coaster part of a broader naming pattern across that section of the park.
