Zydeco Scream, Steel roller coaster in New Orleans, United States.
Zydeco Scream is a steel roller coaster located at a park in New Orleans with a track spanning 935 feet (285 meters). The ride features three inversions, reaches a top speed of 47 mph (76 km/h), and climbs to a maximum height of 116.5 feet (35.5 meters).
The coaster originally operated as Boomerang at Parc de Montjuïc in Barcelona from 1990 to 1998. It was relocated to a park in New Orleans in 2000.
The ride takes its name from Zydeco, a music style rooted in Louisiana culture, bringing regional musical heritage into the park experience. Visitors connect with this local art form while enjoying the attraction.
The train is divided into seven cars with two rows each, accommodating 28 riders per cycle. The ride processes around 760 passengers hourly, so visiting during quieter periods offers shorter waits.
The structure survived Hurricane Katrina in 2005 but remained inactive for nearly two decades before being dismantled in 2024. This made it a notable symbol of recovery and change in the park following the disaster.
