Naldham House

Naldham House sits on Mary Street with a distinctive octagonal tower topped by a cupola, fluted columns, and large semi-circular arched windows spanning its four floors. The building displays refined Victorian architecture with classical details throughout its facade.

The building was constructed in 1864 as a two-story office for a steam navigation company. A major expansion in 1888 doubled its height and created the four-level structure seen today.

For many years, this building served as the nerve center for Queensland's maritime business, where shipping routes and fleet operations were managed. The layout and design still reflect its role as a professional headquarters for the shipping industry.

The building is located in Brisbane's central business district and is easily accessible on foot. It now serves as a conference center with professional facilities available for meetings and events.

The year 1888 is carved in stone into the northern facade, marking when the building was expanded and transformed. This inscription remains a visible reminder of the major renovation that doubled the structure's size.
