Sawtelle Veterans Home

Sawtelle Veterans Home is a facility spanning over 300 acres in western Los Angeles, originally established as the Pacific Branch of the National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers. The grounds include residential buildings, medical facilities, and open spaces designed to support the care and daily needs of former military personnel.

Founded in 1888, the facility cared for veterans from multiple conflicts, including the Civil War, Spanish-American War, and World War I. In 1930, it was absorbed into the Veterans Administration system, which standardized services and expanded support for former soldiers across the region.
