McCamish Pavilion, Indoor sports arena in Midtown Atlanta, United States
McCamish Pavilion is an indoor arena in the heart of Midtown Atlanta used primarily for basketball games and collegiate athletic events. The seating is arranged in a rectangular configuration with an upper deck, while the domed roof is supported by 32 steel beams.
The facility opened in 1956 as Alexander Memorial Coliseum and served for decades as home to Georgia Tech's athletic program. Following a complete renovation in 2012, it received its current name through a donation from the McCamish family.
The basketball court bears the name of Bobby Cremins, who guided the Georgia Tech men's team through multiple championships between 1981 and 2000. His presence remains throughout the building through memorabilia and honors that document his achievements.
The arena accommodates 8600 spectators and includes a center-hung scoreboard with video screens on four sides plus a wraparound LED ribbon board. Visitors find refreshments and restrooms on multiple levels, and entrances are accessible from the surrounding campus streets.
The concourse design allows visitors to maintain visual contact with the court from nearly every location, while specialized lighting focuses on the playing surface. The upper seating offers clear views despite the steep angle, without obstructive columns or barriers.
