Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, Lutheran church in Midtown Atlanta, United States.
The Lutheran Church of the Redeemer is a Gothic building in Midtown with walls of Tennessee quartzite and limestone trim from Indiana. Its most striking feature is a large stained glass window showing the Good Shepherd.
The congregation began in 1903 as Atlanta's first English-speaking Lutheran group. It moved to its current location at Peachtree and Fourth Street in 1937.
The church hosts a jazz trio during early morning services and a choir that performs with the organ at later gatherings, creating musical experiences for worshippers. Annual concerts bring the community together to hear these performances in the sacred space.
The building sits on Peachtree Street in the heart of Midtown and is easy to reach from most locations. Visitors should know that the church runs active community programs, including food services that support families, jobless people, and those facing hardship.
The building received a new organ called Opus 80 in 2002, built by a Canadian organ maker. This instrument significantly improved the musical capabilities of the church and made it a special place for organ performances.
