Fox Theatre, Performance venue in Midtown Atlanta, United States
Fox Theatre is a performance building in Midtown Atlanta, Georgia, completed in 1929. The interior combines Moorish and Egyptian design elements, with a main hall shaped like an Arabian courtyard under a ceiling studded with glowing stars.
The building was constructed as part of a temple headquarters for a fraternal organization and opened its doors in December 1929. Citizens saved the structure from demolition in 1974 through an organized campaign that led to the creation of a nonprofit organization.
The theater regularly presents Broadway productions, Atlanta Ballet performances, concerts, and serves as the centerpiece of the Fox Theatre Historic District.
The auditorium holds more than four thousand seats and offers performances throughout the year. Tickets can be purchased through the website or directly at the box office.
A large theater organ with more than three thousand six hundred pipes has stood in the hall since opening day and can imitate the instruments of a full orchestra. The instrument is still used today for special performances and film screenings.
