Cascade Lakes, Protected lakes system in Oregon, United States
The Cascade Lakes consist of twelve natural lakes and two reservoirs spread across the mountainous terrain of central Oregon's Deschutes National Forest.
The lakes formed through volcanic activity and glacial erosion during the geological formation of the Cascade Mountain Range over thousands of years.
Native American tribes traditionally used these lakes as seasonal fishing and hunting grounds, establishing important food gathering patterns throughout the region.
Visitors require recreation passes to access the lakes, which offer numerous campgrounds, boat launches, and hiking trails throughout the connected water system.
Each of the fourteen water bodies maintains distinct characteristics, from Sparks Lake's photography locations to Crane Prairie Reservoir's large rainbow trout population.
