Fraser Valley Regional District, Regional district in British Columbia, Canada
The Fraser Valley Regional District is an administrative area in British Columbia situated between Metro Vancouver and the Thompson-Nicola region. It includes six municipalities and eight electoral areas spread across the landscape.
The area was created in 1995 through a merger of three earlier administrative districts. This combination established a unified region with shared services and management.
The area has deep farming roots, and you see farms growing berries, corn, and vegetables throughout the landscape. These protected agricultural lands shape how the region looks and functions today.
The main administration office is located in Chilliwack and oversees water systems, waste management, and emergency services across the area. Visitors can use Chilliwack as a starting point to explore the various communities and surrounding territories.
The eight electoral areas are labeled A through H and represent different geographical zones ranging from mountain communities to riverside settlements. Each zone has its own character, making governance localized and adapted to specific needs.
