After opening as Riata Casino in 1973, the establishment changed its name to Silver City Casino in 1974 and operated until October 31, 1999.
The Silver City Casino maintained a Western theme throughout its operations, reflecting the regional heritage of Nevada and the American West.
Circus Circus Enterprises acquired the property for $30 million in 1981 and implemented extensive renovations to improve guest facilities.
The Silver City Casino introduced the first smoking prohibition on the Las Vegas Strip from 1991 to 1994, preceding wider industry changes.
