伏牛山世界地质公园, Geological park in Henan Province, China
Funiu Mountain Global Geopark is a large nature reserve in Henan Province featuring multiple visitor zones that display diverse rock formations, mountain landscapes, and river valleys. The main areas are spread across the park grounds and offer different views of the region's geological structure.
The area was an important location for dinosaur life millions of years ago, with numerous fossil eggs from the Cretaceous period preserved in the rock layers. The geological strata document long periods of Earth's history and show how the landscape changed over millions of years.
The five main geological tourism zones include Baotianman, Laojieling, Huanghuaman, Zhenwuding, and the Dinosaur Heritage Park for scientific research and education.
The park has marked hiking trails through the different zones where visitors can explore the rock formations on their own. Visitor centers provide information about the geology and suggest routes that work well depending on your available time and fitness level.
Some of the fossil eggs found here have unusual shapes that are rarer than the typical round forms. These special specimens help scientists understand more about the variety of dinosaur species that once lived in this region.
