Kinaskan Lake Provincial Park, Provincial park near Mount Edziza in British Columbia, Canada

Kinaskan Lake Provincial Park covers 800 hectares of forested backcountry with a large lake, surrounding peaks, and the Iskut River that drops into Cascade Falls. The landscape mixes open water, dense forest, and rocky shorelines throughout the reserve.

Provincial authorities established this protected area in 1987 to preserve the wilderness and wildlife habitats in the region. The designation marked an important commitment to maintaining the land's natural character.

Indigenous Tlingit and other local peoples have sustained themselves through fishing and hunting in this territory for countless generations. Today, this traditional relationship with the land remains visible in how the landscape is shaped and used.

The park provides campgrounds with vehicle and tent sites, pit toilets, water access, and a boat ramp for visitors with watercraft. Being remote and far north in British Columbia, visitors should come prepared for harsh weather and limited services.

The Mowdade Lake Trail links this park to nearby Mount Edziza Provincial Park through a long backcountry route that crosses the Iskut River by boat. This multi-day connection showcases some of the remote northern terrain that experienced hikers seek out.
