The temple was built in 1762, the 27th year of the Qianlong reign of the Qing dynasty. According to legend, a pharmacist named Lai Kwok-man founded it after discovering the goddess Kam Fa's spirit tablet and his sick wife recovered. The building was renovated in the 1970s.
