Neubau, Administrative district in Vienna, Austria
The seventh district of Vienna extends across 1.61 square kilometers with densely built residential areas and commercial spaces along its main streets.
In 1850, Neubau merged with Vienna as an independent district, combining the former suburbs of Schottenfeld, St. Ulrich, and Spittelberg into one administration.
The district contains numerous theaters, including Volkstheater and Renaissance Theater, while the MuseumsQuartier houses major art collections and exhibitions.
The Neubaumarkt market opens every Wednesday at Lindengasse intersection, offering fresh produce, local goods, and artisanal products from regional vendors.
The population density peaked in 1869 with 80,043 residents, a number that has decreased to approximately 31,500 in current times.
