Bad Vöslau

Bad Vöslau is a thermal spa town in Lower Austria situated on the slopes of the Vienna Woods, with natural hot springs that flow from deep underground mineral reserves. The waters are sourced from a geological fault line that runs through the region and are channeled into bathing and wellness facilities.

The town was first documented in 1136 as a fortified castle and settlement in the region. Following its destruction in the 15th century, it eventually developed into a spa destination when the thermal springs were put to commercial use.

The town is known as the birthplace of Austrian red wine production, a heritage that shaped the region's identity. The vineyards surrounding the area reflect this long-standing tradition that locals take pride in.

The spa facilities are set within a pine forest and feature multiple swimming pools and recreational areas for visitors to explore. The location is roughly 35 kilometers south of Vienna, making it easy to reach as a day trip from the capital.

A peace treaty between Greece and Serbia was signed here in 1867, years before the town officially became a recognized spa destination. This diplomatic event is often overlooked in favor of the springs themselves but marks an important moment in the town's past.
