Памятник Хуршидбану Натаван

This monument to Khurshidbanu Natavan portrays her in a reflective moment, with one hand delicately positioned near her face, conveying thoughtfulness through careful sculptural details. The work combines bronze and marble and occupies a central location in the city.

The sculpture was created in 1960 by artist Omar Eldarov and commemorates the last heir of the Karabakh Khanate, who lived during the 19th century. Though born into ruling authority, her family's power shifted after major regional changes took place.

This monument honors a poet whose literary salons in the 19th century drew intellectuals together and shaped how creative expression developed in the region. Her influence extended beyond writing to include the mentoring of younger artists and thinkers.

The monument sits on Aziz Aliyev Street in central Baku and is easily reached on foot from other nearby attractions. The space around it is openly accessible and clearly visible from the street.

At this very location, the poet met French writer Alexandre Dumas in 1858 and exchanged gifts with him, including ivory chess pieces. These rare objects are now kept in the Nizami Museum and remain among the collection's most valued pieces.
