House of Sadykhov brothers

The House of Sadykhov brothers is a seven-story residential building on Istiglaliyyat Street with a facade that blends European and local architectural styles. Marble staircases, arched entrances, and ornate details characterize the structure throughout.

Architect Gavriil Ter-Mikelov designed the building in 1909, with construction completed in 1912. The site had previously served as a cemetery before being developed for residential use.

The building reflects how wealthy Azerbaijani families of the early 1900s chose to display their status through architecture. The elaborate ornamentation and scale reveal the tastes and values of Baku's elite residents from that era.

The building is located at the intersection of Istiglaliyyat and Niyazi streets, surrounded by important institutions, universities, and the Presidential Palace. Its central position makes it easy to reach and discover while exploring the historic district.

The building features a rare two-row arrangement of open decks without glass enclosures, setting it apart from other residential structures of its time. This open design was uncommon in Baku's architecture of that period.
