House-Museum of Leopold and Mstislav Rostropovich, Family museum in Baku, Azerbaijan.
The museum displays over 5000 items including personal belongings, concert attire, photographs, letters, and furniture from the Rostropovich family collection.
Leopold Rostropovich accepted an invitation from composer Uzeyir Hajibeyov to teach at the State Conservatory and moved to this Baku residence in 1925.
The museum contains two exhibition sections, one showing the family living environment and another presenting Mstislav Rostropovich's musical achievements and performances.
Located at 31 Rostropovich Street in Baku, the museum welcomes visitors from Tuesday through Sunday between 10:00 and 18:00.
The museum preserves the exact location where celebrated cellist Mstislav Rostropovich was born in 1927 and spent his early childhood years.
