Bhairab Upazila, Administrative district in Kishoreganj, Bangladesh
Bhairab Upazila extends over 139 square kilometers between the Meghna and Brahmaputra rivers, with an elevation of 10 meters above sea level.
This administrative region started as Bhairab Thana in 1906 and transformed into an Upazila in 1983, marking significant changes in local governance structure.
The district maintains 208 mosques and seven temples, reflecting the religious composition of 96.53% Muslim and 3.46% Hindu population in the region.
The transportation infrastructure includes 237 kilometers of paved roads, connecting the district to major cities through the Bhairab bridge over Meghna River.
President Zillur Rahman, who led Bangladesh from 2009 to 2013, originated from this district, which now contains a railway bridge bearing his name.
