Egarasindhur Fort, Medieval fort in Jangalbari village, Kishoreganj District, Bangladesh.
Egarasindhur Fort is a fortification located where several rivers meet: Banar, Shitalaksya, Arial Khan, and Giyara Sunda. The site now shows ruins with scattered bricks, stones, pottery pieces, and an old tank known as Bebuidya Rajar Dighi.
Koch chief Bebuidya built the original structure, but in the 16th century Isa Khan reconstructed it and transformed it into a military stronghold. This redesign reflected changing strategic needs of the time.
Two mosques stand on the grounds: Sadi Mosque from 1652 and Shah Muhammad Mosque from 1680. These buildings reflect the religious traditions that took root at this location over centuries.
Visiting requires some preparation since the fort is located in a remote area near several rivers. Walking across the site helps you navigate the ruins, though you should watch for uneven ground and standing water in places.
The original fortification had an earthen wall about 18 meters (60 feet) wide at its base and was protected by a constructed moat on one side. The surrounding rivers on three other sides provided natural defense, making the location naturally isolated.
