Montana Province

Montana Province is an administrative region in northwestern Bulgaria situated between the Danube River and the Balkan Mountains. It comprises eleven municipalities with agricultural lands, forests, and diverse natural environments spread across the territory.

The area originated as a Roman military installation known as Castra ad Montanesium and later became an important settlement. In the late 1990s, it was reorganized into its current provincial structure as part of Bulgaria's administrative reforms.

The region is home to Bulgarian, Roma, and Turkish communities that practice Orthodox Christianity and maintain their distinct local traditions and ways of life.
