Hohberghorn, Mountain summit in Pennine Alps, Switzerland
The Hohberghorn rises to 4,218 meters, forming part of the Nadelgrat ridge with steep slopes overlooking Saas-Fee resort and Mattertal valley.
R. B. Heathcote completed the first ascent in August 1869 with guides Franz Biner, Peter Perren, and Peter Taugwalder through the west gully.
The mountain serves as a training ground for climbers preparing for advanced routes, with its northeast face featuring a 320-meter climb at 50 degrees.
Climbers access the summit from Mischabelhütte at 3,329 meters or Bordierhütte at 2,886 meters, both offering accommodation during summer months.
The North Face route provides technical climbing without seracs, attracting mountaineers seeking less crowded paths in the Pennine Alps region.
