Sud-Comoé, Administrative region in southeastern Côte d'Ivoire.
Sud-Comoé is an administrative region in southeastern Côte d'Ivoire shaped by dense forests, lagoons, and several rivers. The territory comprises four administrative departments with Aboisso as the regional center.
The area was once the kingdom of Sanwi, which sought independence from Côte d'Ivoire in 1969. Following this attempt, it was integrated into the national administrative structure as a regular region in 1997.
The region preserves strong Akan traditions through the King of Sanwi, who leads ceremonial functions from Krindjabo and keeps local customs alive. This royal court plays an important role in the community's daily life.
The region is best explored through its four administrative departments, with Aboisso offering most services and information points. Visitors should be aware that travel during rainy season can be difficult, as roads and bridges may become flooded.
The region contains an extensive lagoon system along the Atlantic coast that plays an important role in the local ecosystem. These water bodies are home to diverse fish species and support traditional fishing practices that have existed for generations.
