Qingliang Park

Qingliang Park is an expansive green space in Gulou District that covers substantial land with a prominent hill at its center. The grounds contain multiple sections including a Buddhist temple, an old academy building, and wooded areas that together form a layered natural and cultural space.

This location began as a retreat during the Southern Tang dynasty when people sought relief from heat, and later transformed into a center for learning. By the early 16th century, an academy was established here that made the site an educational landmark.

The temple within this space holds significance in Zen Buddhism, where notable teachers once conducted their spiritual practices. Visitors walking through today can sense the religious importance of the site through its traditional buildings and peaceful grounds.

The park is accessible by a short walk from a metro station, with marked entrances that help visitors find their way in. Wear comfortable shoes and allow time to wander through the different zones, as paths wind through varying elevations and tree-covered areas.

The grounds feature an extensive forest of mature trees that creates a woodland setting within the urban surroundings. This dense tree cover offers visitors a retreat from the city while remaining easily accessible from nearby neighborhoods.
