General He Yingqin, a close associate of Chiang Kai-shek, established this residence during his service as a military commander in the 1930s.

The residence, located within Nanjing University campus, opens daily for visitors and includes informational panels in Chinese and English.
The residence contains the original meeting room where He Yingqin signed documents accepting Japan's surrender in China after World War II.
