Jinjiang

Jinjiang is a county-level city in Quanzhou along the Taiwan Strait featuring extensive industrial zones, residential districts, and multiple transportation connections. The airport and railway network link the place to other major Chinese cities.

The Zayton Port was one of the largest eastern harbors from the 10th through 14th centuries during the Song and Yuan dynasties. This period shaped the place's economic importance and made it a major trading center.

The local population speaks a distinct Hokkien dialect that connects speakers across Southeast Asia and remains present in daily life today. This language shapes the cultural identity of residents and their connections to communities beyond the region.

Getting there is possible by airplane or train from larger cities, with both transportation options available directly in the city. Public transport and infrastructure make it easy for visitors to move around the industrial hub.

The Cao'an Temple stands as the only surviving Manichean religious structure in China and shows a rare spiritual past. The temple preserves traces of a completely different religious tradition from those common in the region today.
