泉州湾跨海大桥, Cable-stayed bridge in Quanzhou Bay, China
The Quanzhou Bay Bridge is a cable-stayed structure with two main towers spanning approximately 12 kilometers across the water. It carries eight lanes of traffic to connect the districts of Jinjiang and Shishi.
Work on this project started in late 2009 and was completed about five years later. It was a major infrastructure development that transformed connectivity across the bay.
The bridge links areas of historical commerce with modern industrial zones, enabling exchange between established and developing economic regions. It has become a part of daily life for many commuters crossing the bay.
The bridge is a busy transit route, especially during morning and evening rush hours when traffic can be heavy. Access is limited to vehicles on designated lanes, so foot traffic is restricted to specific areas.
The two main towers rise about 157 meters high and are visible landmarks from many points across the region. A striking feature is the generous clearance above the water, which allows large vessels to navigate underneath.
