Nyingchi, prefecture-level city in Tibet Autonomous Region, China
Nyingchi is a prefecture-level city in the Tibet Autonomous Region, located in the eastern part of the Himalayan plateau. The urban area spreads across a mountain valley with multiple districts housing residential zones, commercial areas, and administrative centers.
The city has deep roots in Tibetan history as a trading hub along ancient routes. In recent decades it became an important administrative center for the eastern plateau region.
The city is accessible by road and air, though the elevation of around 10,000 feet (3,000 meters) requires acclimatization. Visitors should plan a few days to adjust and bring warm clothing, as weather changes quickly at this altitude.
