Tsozong Gongba Monastery

The monastery consists of four buildings arranged around a yard at an elevation of 3540 meters in the Nyenchen Tanglha Mountains.

Founded in 1400 by Nyin-gma-pa monk Sungye Lingpa, the monastery maintains the Nyingma tradition of Tibetan Buddhism through generations of practitioners.

The main structure displays traditional Tibetan architecture with an inscription of Om mani padme hum mantra carved into nearby rocks.

Visitors need proper acclimatization before reaching the monastery due to its high altitude location and should plan their trek through established mountain routes.

Located on an island within Pagsum Lake, the monastery name translates to 'castle in the lake' and includes a circumambulation path with sacred sites.
