Located along the Nen River, Qiqihar extends across 42,205 square kilometers of land at an elevation of 147 meters in northeastern China.
The settlement transformed from a military stronghold established in 1691 into a significant administrative center after the completion of the Chinese Eastern Railway in 1903.
