Taihu Bridge, Transportation bridge in Wuzhong District, China.
The Taihu Bridge extends 4,308 meters across Lake Tai, connecting Xukou region with Xishan Island through three distinct sections.
The construction of Taihu Bridge started in October 1992 and required an investment of over 100 million yuan from Wu County until completion in 1994.
The bridge creates a connection between mainland Suzhou and numerous cultural sites, including Dongcun Ancient Village, Yuwang Temple, and Baoshan Zen Temple.
The municipal government plans to build a parallel bridge to address the increasing traffic congestion caused by growing tourism in the region.
The second section of Taihu Bridge reaches a height of 22.5 meters at its central opening, while the third section appears to float on the water.
