Liaoning Provincial Museum

The Liaoning Provincial Museum is a large art museum in Shenyang divided into five functional zones containing exhibition spaces and storage areas for cultural objects. The collection spans several categories and holds ancient Chinese artworks as well as everyday objects from different periods.

The museum was founded in 1949 following the establishment of the People's Republic of China as the Northeast Museum and renamed in 1959. This renaming marked a shift toward focusing on regional history and the province's artistic heritage.

The museum displays artistic works that document centuries of creative practice across northeast China, from calligraphy to elaborate silk embroidery. Visitors can observe how various craft traditions come to life through these collections.
