Cape D'Aguilar Marine Reserve, Marine reserve in Southern District, Hong Kong.
The marine reserve covers 20 hectares between Kau Pei Chau and rocky coastline, featuring diverse habitats with coral reefs and grass beds.
Established in 1996 under the Marine Parks Ordinance, the site became Hong Kong's first and only marine reserve after being designated as scientifically significant.
The reserve holds a 6.4-meter whale skeleton from 1955, which served as a food source during a period of significant refugee movement in Hong Kong.
Entry requires special permits from the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department, with strict prohibitions on fishing, swimming, and collecting organisms.
The reserve contains four distinct rock formations: tuffs with volcanic bombs, granodiorites, porphyritic rhyolites, and basaltic dykes.
