The Hong Kong Cricket Club, Sports organization in Wan Chai District, Hong Kong.
The Hong Kong Cricket Club is a sports organization in Wan Chai featuring professional cricket grounds and multiple other sports facilities arranged within an urban complex nestled in the Wong Nai Chung Gap hills. The site includes cricket pitches, tennis courts, rugby fields, squash courts, dining areas, and social spaces for members.
The organization was founded in 1851 on a former military parade ground near the waterfront. In 1975 it moved to its current location in the Wong Nai Chung Gap hills, relocating from its original site in Central.
The club serves as a meeting place for cricket fans and other sports enthusiasts from around the world. Tennis courts, rugby fields, and squash courts are woven into the daily rhythm of the place.
The facility sits on hilly terrain that can be physically demanding to explore on warm days. Different sports facilities are spread across the site, so it helps to plan which areas you want to visit beforehand.
In 2023 the club hosted one of the first international-level women's cricket matches in the region. The event brought teams from four different countries together and highlighted the growing role of women in a traditionally male-dominated sport.
