Labajin Bridge, Concrete beam bridge in Yingjing, Sichuan, China
Labajin Bridge is a concrete arch bridge that spans a deep mountainous valley in Sichuan, connecting communities on either side. The structure relies on massive pillars anchored into the hillside and steel beams that support the roadway above.
The bridge opened in 2012 and improved transportation links to one of the most remote mountain regions in Sichuan Province. It enabled faster connections along the G5 Expressway and joined previously isolated villages.
The bridge design incorporates engineering methods specific to Chinese architectural practices, with reinforced concrete columns and steel support structures.
The bridge is part of the busy G5 Expressway and can become slippery during rain or snow. Drive at reduced speed and check weather conditions, especially during winter months.
Some of the pillars supporting this bridge rank among China's highest pier structures, reaching heights that stand out in the landscape. This engineering feat often goes unnoticed by travelers who simply drive across.
