Tangshan Earthquake Memorial Park

The memorial park extends over 5.44 hectares with a central monument consisting of a 30-meter tall main tablet and surrounding granite reliefs.

The park preserves the memory of the 1976 Tangshan earthquake, which caused 242,769 deaths and destroyed 85 percent of the buildings in the city.

Eight granite reliefs throughout the park showcase the national solidarity and determination of Tangshan residents in rebuilding their community after the catastrophe.

The memorial site includes visitor facilities, educational displays, and a museum that presents information about the earthquake through artifacts and exhibitions.

The monument's base features 28 steps arranged in four groups of seven, representing the date of July 28 when the earthquake struck.
