South Lake of Tangshan

The South Lake of Tangshan spans across 11 square miles, featuring water surfaces, embankment promenades, and extensive walking paths for outdoor activities.

Following the devastating 1976 earthquake that destroyed Tangshan, the South Lake area underwent extensive reconstruction and transformation from industrial grounds to recreational spaces.

The lake area incorporates traditional Chinese elements through dedicated spaces for calligraphy demonstrations, painting exhibitions, and regular cultural performances.

Visitors can access multiple entry points around the lake via public transportation, with information centers and rest facilities positioned throughout the grounds.

The continuous land subsidence in the area creates new water surfaces yearly, naturally expanding the lake system and modifying the landscape.
