Lady Ho Tung Welfare Centre

Lady Ho Tung Welfare Centre is a masonry building featuring a U-shaped verandah wrapping around the main block with traditional design elements. A single-story bungalow stands nearby, connected by a covered walkway that bridges the two structures.

This building was built in 1932 through donations from Sir Robert Ho Tung to provide medical care for local village residents. It began as a maternity hospital and later became a general health clinic serving the wider community.

The building mixes Western Arts and Crafts design with Chinese features, visible in how the roof curves and how the courtyards are laid out.

The building no longer operates as a medical facility and can be viewed from outside. Walking around the grounds gives the best view of the U-shaped verandah and covered walkway, where all the main architectural features are clearly visible.

The roof features a gambrel design with curved ends covered in Chinese tiles arranged in double rows and supported by wooden trusses. This blend of Western construction methods with Chinese craftsmanship stands out among buildings from this era.
