Liu's manor in Dayi, Manor estate in Anren Town, Sichuan Province, China.
Liu's Manor in Dayi is a large residential and agricultural estate in Anren Town, Sichuan, made up of five separate buildings with gray brick walls, stone foundations, and carved wooden details in the western Sichuan style. The compound contains courtyards, storage rooms, and living quarters arranged across the grounds.
The estate was built in the 1930s when the Liu family was among the most powerful landowners in Dayi County. After 1949 it was taken over by the state and later turned into a site open to the public.
The Liu name carries local meaning tied to commerce and agricultural trade during its era. Throughout the grounds, you can see details showing how wealthy families organized their daily lives and business activities.
The manor is in Anren Town and can be reached from Chengdu in about an hour by car or bus. Walking through the grounds takes time, so comfortable shoes are a good idea as some paths are uneven.
One of the exhibition halls contains handmade clay figures showing scenes from rural life in the region during the estate's active years. These figures were originally created for a political exhibition meant to contrast the lives of landlords with those of ordinary farmers.
