Grey Goat Temple, Taoist temple in Chengdu, China
The Grey Goat Temple consists of halls, courtyards, and pavilions spread across multiple structures featuring traditional Chinese architectural elements and decorative details.
Founded during the Tang Dynasty between 618 and 907, this temple underwent several reconstructions with most current buildings dating from the Qing Dynasty period.
The temple maintains regular Taoist ceremonies and hosts the Hall of Three Purities, where statues represent the highest deities in Taoist beliefs.
Located near Qingyang Palace Station on subway line 5, the temple welcomes visitors from 8:00 to 17:00 with an entrance fee of 10 yuan.
Two bronze goats stand in Sanqing Hall, with one specimen incorporating characteristics from all twelve Chinese zodiac animals into its form.
