Monument to the Martyrs of the Railway Protection Movement

Built in 1913, this structure commemorates the civilians who died during protests against the Qing government's railway nationalization plans in 1911.

Four different calligraphers created inscriptions on the monument, each character measuring one square meter, representing the transition between Qing Dynasty and Republican era.

The monument stands in the northwest section of People's Park, offering visitors direct access to learn about the Railway Protection Movement's impact.

Relief carvings on the square base depict early 20th-century locomotives and railway tracks, combining industrial and memorial architectural elements.
