Chengdu Cultural Park
Chengdu Cultural Park is a large public green space in the Qingyang District featuring trees, flowers, and pathways connecting multiple historic structures and artworks. The park spans a wide area with traditional-style pavilions, memorials including the Great Art Relief Wall, ancient stones, and a central pond surrounded by vegetation.
The park was founded in 1951 on the grounds of the former Erxian Temple site, designed to preserve and present the area's history. The Twelve Martyrs memorial honors 36 people who died during a difficult period and is protected as an important cultural relic.
The park displays traditional Chinese architectural elements and artworks depicting the daily life and significant events of the region. Visitors can experience mask theater performances and shadow shows in the traditional tea house, which reflects Chengdu's long-standing appreciation for art and storytelling.
The park is free to enter and open daily, best reached by bus or metro near Qingyang Palace station. Comfortable shoes are recommended as the grounds are extensive and offer plenty to explore on foot.
The park features the Zhiji Stone, a large brown boulder shaped like a small mountain with a tiny head, resembling a fairy maiden from ancient tales. Local traditions connect this stone to ancient ceremonies and the deep history of the surrounding area.
