Chunxi Road, Pedestrian street in central Chengdu, China.
Chunxi Road is a pedestrian street stretching about 1.1 kilometers through central Chengdu with more than 700 retail shops, department stores, and international fashion boutiques. The street is well-organized with zones for shopping, dining, and seating areas for visitors to take breaks.
The street was founded in 1924 by warlord Yang Sen under the name Senwei Road. It received its current name later to reflect the area's growing commercial development.
The middle section centers on Sun Yat-sen Square, where locals naturally gather and meet friends throughout the day. This spot has become a recognized landmark for residents to arrange to see each other in the city's heart.
The street is easily accessible through Metro lines 2 and 3, making it simple for visitors to arrive without difficulty. The shops and restaurants are most crowded in late afternoon and evening, while mornings tend to be quieter.
The IFS Center building displays a large panda sculpture that is visible from a distance. A post office in the same area combines postal services with panda merchandise, creating a memorable shopping experience.
