Chengdu Museum

Chengdu Museum is a large exhibition facility in the Xiyuhe area featuring two distinctive towers set across a sprawling complex. The northern section houses exhibition galleries and displays, while the southern part contains administrative spaces and support functions.

The museum was established to preserve and present the history and cultural heritage of the Chengdu region to the public. Its collections span from ancient objects to artifacts documenting the evolution of the area across different periods.

The Puppetry Hall displays traditional Chinese shadow plays and their role in local entertainment and storytelling traditions. Visitors can see how this art form shaped performances and cultural expressions across different periods.

Visitors should expect to walk across a large site with considerable distances between areas, so comfortable footwear is recommended. Rest areas are distributed throughout both sections for convenience during your visit.

The museum houses more than 200 puppetry pieces spanning different styles of traditional shadow plays and performance figures. This collection represents one of the larger assemblies of such art forms gathered in the region.
